The Second Annual Operation ASHA Charity Dinner was held on February 28,2008, at the University Club of Chicago. The dinner was a roaring success. A week prior to the event, on February 21, 2008, Operation ASHA was featured on Chicago Public Redio's Worldview program, in the "Global Activism" series. The event was also covered by TV ASIA, and was featured on their "Community Round Up" program on March 6 and 7, 2008.

At the dinner, Shelly Batra, MD, President of Operation ASHA, gave a first-hand account of the organization's work in New Delhi. Martha Nussbaum, a Professor of Law and Ethics at the University of Chicago and a Visiting Professor at Harvard Law School, was the keynote speaker.
The annual charity gala not only enables Operation Asha to raise money to fund the expanding number of Tuberculosis treatment centers but also is an important vehicle for informing the general public of the need of TB treatment in India’s slums and the effectiveness of our program. Co-founders Shelly Batra, MD and Sandeep Ahuja were in attendance. Shelly and Sandeep offered attendees a first-hand account of Operation ASHA’s work on the ground in India and were eager to answer questions.
