This was truly a grand event, attended by the movers and shakers of Chicago. Nearly 200 hundred people attended the function.  Mr. Jerome Mcdonnell, host of the radio program Worldview on NPR was the Keynote speaker and Smita Shah, Chair of the Chicago-New Delhi Sister City Program, the honorary chair.

The evening began with live music. Simultaneously there was a silent auction where a large number of gift items donated by individuals and corporations in India and the US were auctioned.  Dr. Shelly Batra, Co-founder & President, gave a formal presentation and lecture regarding Operation ASHA’s work in the slums of New Delhi. The keynote speaker of the evening, Jerome, gave an interesting overview of the subject of philanthropy, and Operation Asha’s endeavor in this regard.

The evening was organized by Rob Webster, a director of Operation Asha, with the support of Charu Mathur, Mickie O’Neil and Alyssa Oldani.
